Lake Mineral Wells State Park

Lake Mineral Wells State Park is home to some of the best outdoor activities in the area. The lake covers 640 acres and offers plenty of opportunities for fun on the lake, including: boating, canoeing, kayaking, paddle boarding, fishing, swimming and more!


However, the activity that Lake Mineral Wells State Park is arguably most well known for is rock climbing. The park is home to Penitentiary Hollow, one of the few natural rock climbing venues in North Texas.

Mineral Wells Fossil Park

If you love learning about fossils, then you need to visit the Mineral Wells Fossil Park. The park is a result of 20 years of erosion due to the old borrow pit for the city’s landfill. This erosion revealed fossils documenting all kinds of prehistoric sea life from the “Pennsylvanian Period”, including primitive sharks. The area is now a mecca for avid fossil hunters, paleontologists, and many other mineral groups and societies.


Mineral Wells Fossil Park allows visitors to take fossils that they find from designated areas. There is little to no amenities at the park, so be sure to come prepared.

Famous Mineral Water Company

There really is something in the water here in Mineral Wells, TX and you’d be remiss if you didn’t learn more about it. The Famous Mineral Water Company is a specialty gift shop that is home to Crazy Water, the only mineral water bottled in Texas. The shop was founded in 1904 after the founder, Ed Dismuke, had his life-threatening disease alleviated by the local mineral water.


Visitors can enjoy a tour which teaches more about the water and facilities, as well as try samples of the famed water that has brought thousands of people all over the world to our little town.
